# Data Security, GDPR, and Compliance at Rise Financial

> Rise keeps your books audit-ready with AES-256 encryption, EU data hosting, GDPR compliance, and tamper-proof archiving under Finnish tax law.

Rise is built around compliance from the ground up. Every transaction is booked with the correct VAT treatment from day one, so your books are always audit-ready — no scrambling at year-end. Your financial data is stored in EU data centers with tamper-proof archiving, and a certified accountant team reviews your books regularly to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

## Tax and VAT Compliance

Rise handles the full lifecycle of your tax and VAT obligations automatically, so you stay compliant without having to think about it.

## Data Security

Your financial data is among the most sensitive information your business holds. Rise is designed with security at every layer.

* **EU data hosting:** All your financial data is stored in EU data centers, subject to full GDPR protections. Your data never leaves the European Union.
* **Tamper-proof archiving:** Financial documents are archived with cryptographic integrity verification — records cannot be altered after they are stored, providing a trustworthy audit trail.
* **Encrypted in transit and at rest:** All data is encrypted using industry-standard TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest, protecting your information at every point.
* **Transaction access is read-only:** Rise's PSD2 bank connection retrieves your transactions and does not move money. Paying from Rise is a separate capability that requires its own payment mandate.
* **Every payment is confirmed individually:** when you pay an invoice from Rise, the payment is confirmed with your phone's biometric authentication before it is released. Rise never releases payments on its own.
* **Accountants pay only on request:** a Rise accountant can make a payment on your behalf, but only when you have asked for it.

## GDPR and Your Data Rights

As a Rise customer in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact [support@risegroup.eu](mailto:support@risegroup.eu) and the team will assist you promptly.

Your financial records are retained as required by applicable tax law — typically 7–10 years depending on your jurisdiction. This retention is a legal obligation, not a choice, and ensures your records are available if you ever need them for an audit or tax inquiry.
