# AI Bookkeeping: Automatic Transaction Categorization in Rise

> Rise's AI categorizes every transaction, reads invoices, matches payments, and keeps your books audit-ready 24/7 — without any manual entry from you.

Rise's AI bookkeeping engine processes every transaction the moment it appears in your bank feed — categorizing it, applying the correct VAT treatment, and matching it to any open invoices. There is nothing for you to enter manually. From the second a payment leaves your account, Rise is already working to make sure it lands in the right place in your books.

## What the AI does automatically

Rise handles the full bookkeeping cycle in the background, covering every step from raw bank data to reconciled, VAT-compliant records.

## When Rise asks for your input

Rise only interrupts you when the AI genuinely cannot determine how to classify something — for example, a new vendor with an ambiguous expense category. When this happens, you receive a mobile notification straight away. You can tap once to approve the AI's suggested category, or select the correct one yourself. That's the full extent of your manual involvement.

Rise is designed to surface these moments as rarely as possible. Over time, as the AI learns your business, the number of approval requests drops significantly.

## Real-time books, always current

Because Rise processes transactions as they happen, your Profit & Loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow reports are always up to date. You never have to wait until the end of the month to understand where your business stands financially. Log in at any point and the numbers reflect everything that has happened right up to today.

## Accountant oversight — built in, not bolted on

Every month, your dedicated certified accountant team reviews everything the AI has processed. They catch edge cases, handle complex transactions, and make sure your books are fully compliant with local regulations. You don't need to audit the AI's work yourself — that's exactly what your accountant team is there for. If they spot anything that needs your attention, they'll reach out directly.

<Note>
  Rise's AI learns from your corrections. When you override a categorization, it remembers your preference for that vendor going forward — so you'll only ever need to correct the same thing once.
