# Annual accounts and the tax return in Rise

> The accounting team prepares your annual accounts and tax return at the end of the financial year. You read, approve and sign.

At the end of the financial year, the licensed accounting team prepares your official annual accounts and tax return. The accountants do the work. You read it, ask in the chat if anything looks off, then approve and sign it.

Rise posts transactions as they happen and books accruals every month, so the annual accounts do not start from nothing. There is no year-end scramble to find missing receipts or untangle old postings.

## The yearly cycle

  </Step>

  <Step title="The tax return goes to the tax authority">

  </Step>

  <Step title="The accounts are registered">

  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Filing deadlines and registration duties depend on the country where your company is registered. Your accounting team confirms the dates that apply to you.
</Note>

## What is expected of you

Three things, no more:

* **Read the draft.** Check that the figures match what happened during the year.
* **Ask if something puzzles you.** The accounting team answers in the chat.
* **Approve and sign.** The annual accounts go no further until you have signed them.

Some work falls outside monthly bookkeeping and is agreed separately: posting investments, company and business acquisitions, assisting in an audit, and catch-up work on earlier financial years.

## Your first year-end in Rise

If you move to Rise mid-year, your previous accounting firm usually still prepares the annual accounts for the year before. Rise takes responsibility for the current financial year and reviews the bookkeeping backwards as well.

You can move at the turn of any month. The turn of the financial year is the easiest moment, but it is not required.

## Responsibility

Statutory responsibility for the bookkeeping always stays with the company. Rise does the work, keeps the records and makes sure the bookkeeping meets local requirements. If an accountant spots a mistake, they tell you straight away.
