Rise is your company’s finance system, but you don’t need to learn accounting to use it. As an employee you do three things: confirm your monthly hours, report holidays and sick days, and send in expense and travel claims. All of it works from your phone, and most months it takes a few minutes.

Set up the app

You’ll receive an email invitation to your company’s Rise account. Accept it, set a password, and install the app on your phone. After that you sign in with the same email address. The app is published as Rise Financial:

App Store

iPhone — requires iOS 16 or later.

Google Play

Android phones and tablets.
→ Mobile App: step-by-step installation and what to do if something doesn’t work.

Hours and absences

Your hours are already there. Rise pre-fills them from the working time recorded in your employment contract. Your job is to confirm the month and log anything that differs from the contract. If your hours don’t vary, there is nothing to log at all. Hours don’t have to be logged day by day. You can report the whole month as a single entry when a day-level breakdown isn’t needed. Leave is requested in the app. Pick the days and send the request. Your manager gets a notification and approves or rejects it in the app. Approved leave flows straight into payroll and does not need to be logged again with the month’s hours. Sick days are reported the same way. The report is visible to your manager immediately.
Report holidays and sick days as they happen. Then confirming the month is just a tap, and nobody has to remember at month-end what happened three weeks ago.

Expense and travel claims

When you pay for something work-related yourself, send the receipt to Rise. Two ways:
  • Photograph the receipt in the app — open Expenses and travel claims and choose Add expense.
  • Email the receipt to your company’s Magic Box address. The address is built from your company’s business ID with no punctuation — for example magicbox+1234567@risegroup.eu.
A travel claim becomes a draft that is ready both to approve and to pay. There are no lines to fill in by hand. Capture the receipt the moment it exists: at the till, when you pay the restaurant bill, in the taxi. That way it can’t go missing, it reaches the books immediately, and there is nothing to collect at month-end. Most receipts need no extra information at all. In a few cases — a restaurant bill or a taxi ride, for instance — you need to add a line about what it was for. → Sending Receipts: what makes a receipt valid and when extra information is needed.

Payslips

You receive your payslip by email after every payroll run. If you need a copy of an older one, for a mortgage application for example, your company’s accountant team will provide it on request.

What you don’t have to do

There’s a lot going on in the books that you don’t need to worry about.
  • You don’t choose an account or a cost centre. The AI codes the purchase and allocates it automatically. If a cost belongs to a particular project or cost centre and the invoice doesn’t show it, write a reference in the invoice’s internal comments — that is what steers the allocation.
  • You don’t reconcile anything. Rise matches the receipt to the bank transaction itself.
  • You don’t check the bookkeeping. A certified accountant team reviews it every month.
Approving purchase and sales invoices is a separate permission that may have been granted to you. If it has, you’ll see invoices waiting for approval in the app. Most employees do not have this permission.

Ask if something is unclear

The chat in the app reaches your company’s accountant team — and in the same conversation, Rise’s AI accountant, which answers immediately, including outside office hours. → Talking to Your Accountant
