Viewing Your Connections
Go to Settings → Bank Connections to see a list of all connected accounts. For each connection you’ll see its current sync status and the date it was last authorized, so you always know which accounts are active and which may need attention.Adding a New Bank Connection
To connect a bank account for the first time, follow the full walkthrough in Connect Your Bank Account.Refreshing an Expired Connection
Open banking authorizations expire periodically — usually every 180 days, though some banks set it as short as 80 — as a security requirement imposed by your bank. When a connection expires, Rise stops receiving new transactions until you re-authorize. Rise notifies you as soon as this happens so you can restore access quickly.1
Open the notification or navigate to Settings
Tap the expiry notification Rise sends you, or go to Settings → Bank Connections manually.
2
Find the expired connection
Locate the account marked as Expired in your list of bank connections.
3
Click Reconnect
Click Reconnect. You’ll be redirected to your bank’s secure login page.
4
Re-authenticate with your bank
Log in with your bank credentials and approve the connection as prompted by your bank.
5
Return to Rise
Once you’ve completed authentication, Rise resumes syncing your transactions automatically. No further action is needed.
Why the renewal exists at all. Traditional accounting systems pull account data over the banks’ legacy web-services channel. That connection never expires, but transactions update only once a day and the fetches are billed per batch. Rise uses open banking, where transactions are fetched four times a day with no separate fetch batches — the books are current the same day rather than the next. The price of that is this re-authentication every six months, which takes a minute.
Connecting Multiple Accounts
You can connect more than one bank account to Rise — for example, a main operating account and a separate savings or payroll account. Each connection is set up and managed independently, and all connected accounts appear together in Settings → Bank Connections.Disconnecting an Account
If you no longer want Rise to sync a particular account, you can disconnect it at any time.1
Go to Settings → Bank Connections
Open the Rise app or web dashboard and navigate to Settings → Bank Connections.
2
Select the account
Click the bank account you want to remove.
3
Disconnect and confirm
Click Disconnect, then confirm your choice when prompted.
Disconnecting an account stops new transactions from syncing going forward. All historical transactions that have already been imported into Rise are retained — they are not deleted when you disconnect.
Manual Statement Upload
If your bank isn’t supported by Rise’s open banking integration, or if you’d prefer not to use open banking, you can import transactions by uploading bank statements manually. Rise accepts files in CSV and OFX formats. To upload a statement, go to Settings → Bank Connections → Upload Statement and follow the on-screen instructions.Open banking access is read-only. It lets Rise see your transactions, never move money. Paying supplier invoices from Rise requires a separate bank agreement and power of attorney — see Enable payments.
